HCAF staff members have been approached by Associate Members interested in sponsoring the 2008 AROUND THE STATE: REVISIONS TO FLORIDA HOME HEALTH LAW. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Home care fraud has gained great footholds in our state. Thus far, the necessary enforcement manpower and resources have not been available at any level to effective reduce this fraud. But, this fight must be waged successfully because when anti-fraud laws are not effectively enforced, the good providers have to either join the bad actors or suffer severe loss of business. Our legislature has incorporated specific anti-fraud provisions into our home health licensure law – Chapter 400, Part III – which went into effect on July 1, 2008. Now these bad practices become subject to surveyor scrutiny and administrative penalties up to and including loss of license. Therefore, HHAs must become familiar with these revisions in order to avoid substantial fines and, even, loss of the HHA license.
